OUR STORY

REACHING NEW HEIGHTS. ON THE ROAD, AND BEYOND.

Day Heights began with a simple mission: service, integrity, and a commitment to our community. In 1982, my father, Rick, founded Day Heights Auto Service with the goal of providing honest, high-quality automotive care. His dedication to helping people didn’t stop at the shop, he soon expanded our services onto the road, planting the seeds for what would become Day Heights Towing.

By 1988, Rick added a single tow truck to support our auto repair customers when they needed help the most. Even in those early days, it was clear that towing wasn’t just a side service, it was an essential way we cared for our community. By 1995, as demand grew and the original truck reached the end of its life, he invested in two newer trucks. From that point, the towing operation remained small, focused, and deeply connected to the personal, reliable service our repair customers had come to trust.

When I began working alongside my father, we continued with those two trucks and two drivers. Towing remained a way to extend the care we provided in the repair shop, ensuring our customers always had a helping hand when they needed it most. Eventually, we added a third truck to keep pace with demand, but towing was still secondary to our core automotive services.

In 2020, when I officially purchased the shop, I faced a pivotal decision: continue towing as a support service, or invest in it as a full-scale operation. With the guidance and leadership of Tim Beckler, who had been part of our journey since 2008 as a tow truck driver and later served as a service advisor, we chose to fully lean into towing. Tim’s experience, commitment to our values, and deep understanding of our community made him the ideal partner to lead this next chapter.

By 2021, we expanded our fleet and team, bringing on additional trucks, drivers, and key staff like dispatcher Ashley Neal. Together, we implemented systems, training, and operational structures to ensure sustainable growth while maintaining the same personal, trustworthy service that built our reputation. Today, Day Heights Towing operates a fleet of 10 trucks, running multiple shifts around the clock, with a dedicated team of 18 employees providing fast, professional, and compassionate service across the Milford region.

The automotive repair division played a vital role in this story. Decades of service, expertise, and relationships with the Milford community built the foundation that allowed our towing operation to grow. While we’ve sold the repair business, that chapter remains part of our DNA. It represents years of commitment, hard work, and service, lessons we carry forward every day in our towing operations.

This transition isn’t an ending; it’s a refinement. By focusing solely on towing, we can serve our community more efficiently and effectively than ever before. We’ve honed our services, built a skilled and reliable team, and positioned Day Heights Towing to continue the family legacy in a way that’s intentional, sustainable, and forward-looking.

At Day Heights Towing, we don’t just move vehicles, we take care of people. And that commitment, started by my father over 40 years ago, continues to guide us every day.
